Mrs Joanne Moloney

The following was read as our Morning Prayer this morning

Over the weekend we heard the sad news that the mum of two of our students sadly passed away. Micah and Saoirse Moloney’s mum, Joanne died peacefully on Saturday.

When we hear news like this it reminds us once again that we are all part of one school community and when one of us suffers a loss, we all feel the pain. Like a pebble dropped into a pond, the ripples of grief can be felt by us all.

The poet David Harkins writes beautifully when he says that although incredibly painful, when we lose someone we love

You can shed tears that they are gone
or you can smile because they lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that they’ll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all they left.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see them
or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and focus on only yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember them and only that they’re gone
or you can cherish their memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back
or you can do what they’d want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Today we remember Micah, Saoirse and the entire Moloney family and their friends. We ask God to be with them all at this difficult time. May perpetual light shine upon Joanne and may her soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, Rest In Peace Amen.

Congratulations to Daria Vecchio, Rebecca Lennon & Kate Ballance who came 1st place in the Young Reporters for the Environment Competition.

“The Girl who Joined Blackrock” – Congratulations to the 2nd and 4th Year students from Loreto and Blackrock College who performed to sell-out audiences from Tuesday to Friday last.  We, yet again, marvelled at the artistic creativity of Mr. Brian Savage and his crew who produced an entertaining musical featuring the works of Queen.   We look forward to our continued involvement in this successful partnership next year.

Congratulations to Emmie Fitzgerald on the publication of her poem "Skating" in the "Fighting Words" supplement in the Irish Times today.

The 6th Year Graduation Mass will take place on Monday 21st May  2018 at 6.30 p.m. (please note the slightly later time), in the Church of the Assumption, Dalkey, followed by a reception in the School Sports Hall.

Congratulations to Gabriela Leon who won a special Merit Award in Category C with an entry entitled "My Grandad"
