The cross country season this year has started well with over 39 competitors taking part in the 'Brother at My Side' cross country race in Santry. There were approximately 2000 competitors  in total and up to 250 in some of the races.
All students performed well but special mention goes to 1st Year's Aoife Mc Cormack who ran a fantastic race and came 22nd, Maria Reynolds 64th and Julia Crowley  69th. The future is looking very bright for our 1st year cross country team.
It was also fantastic to see one of our Spanish students Sandra Jover come 29th in the Inter Race - well done.
A great day, well done to all.

We congratulate our Junior Certificate students on their excellent results. Such achievements are testimony to the work and dedication of the girls, to their studies and to the expertise and professionalism of their teachers. Many students achieved personal bests. A particular word of congratulation to Lucy O' Sullivan and Sarah Desmond who were awarded 11 'A' grades. Only 125 of the 60,000 students sitting the examination achieved such results.

Huge Congratulations to Mollie O Reilly who had an amazing summer in the  400 metres.

Mollie won the All Ireland in June 2016, respresenting Loreto Abbey Dalkey.

Mollie then came 25th in the U20 IAAF World Championship over the summer.

As we come to the end of our first week in school, I wish to remind you of an informative presentation by Dr. David Wilson on “Managing the Transition from Primary to Secondary School” on Tuesday evening next in the Lecture Theatre at 7.45 p.m.

On another note, (excuse the pun!), we will be offering piano lessons before and after school for all levels beginning in the next two weeks.  Classes will be of one half hour duration for a fee of €25 which will be invoiced per term.  Please collect a form from the office, and return once completed if you are interested in enrolling your daughter.  Information on classes in additional instruments will be forwarded next week.

Kind regards,

Robert Dunne,
