Loreto Abbey Trad’ band entertained the students of Our Lady of Good Counsel GNS as part of the Seachtain Na Gaelige celebrations.

The National school girls loved the performance so much that they clapped, cheered and even got up to dance along with the masterfully played jigs and reels.

Special thanks to their teacher Ms. O’Brien for preparing them for this public performance.

Well done girls – Bhi sibh iontach! (maybe check my gaelige)

The Loreto Abbey School community wishes Cuala GAA Club every success in the AIB All Ireland Club Hurling Finals in Croke Park on St. Patrick’s Day.   Cuala GAA Club is very much part of the Dalkey community and many of our students/families are members of the Club.  We congratulate the players and mentors on their dedication, commitment and success to date.

Yvonne Cassidy, a past pupil, is launching a new novel on 22nd March.  “I’m Right Here” is published by Hachette Books Ireland.   Yvonne is based in the States and has already published two very successful novels.  We are very proud of her.

Congratulations to Rebecca and Ruth Keating (past pupils) who were called to the Bar in London recently.  We wish them both success in their legal careers.  As students here and in Trinity College, they were both formidable debaters and no doubt will be equally formidable cross examining in Court.

The staff and students of Loreto Abbey express their sympathy to the families of those who are lost in the R116 crash off the Mayo coast.  The R116 was a familiar sight and sound to all of us as it hovered over the sea just off the school, sometimes practising and on some occasions rescuing those in difficulty.  We pray for the Captain Dara Fitzpatrick and her family and for those yet to be found.

Congratulations to our Senior A Hockey team who defeated St. Killians School in the Semi final of the Leinster Plate.  The final will take place in Three Rock ground on Monday 13th at 2pm
