Ms Munnelly and our five 6th Years have returned from their work on the Dublin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes.  They were joined by 23 of our past pupils who worked tirelessly over the days of the Pilgrimage helping the sick and assisting the pilgrims.

WE WISH LAURA VINES (PAST PUPIL), EVERY SUCCESS IN THE  ROSE OF TRALEE COMPETITION IN KERRY THIS WEEK.  LAURA IS THE DUBLIN ROSE.

Please encourage your daughters to consider participating in the following very worthwhile initiative. Here is a very exciting opportunity to be part of an historic event which will provoke much discussion on “Climate Change”. Please consider applying and speak with Ms Gallagher should you require advice on this excellent initiative. On Friday 15 November, RTÉ and the Houses of the Oireachtas will convene the country’s first ever Youth Assembly on Climate in Dáil Éireann. It will be a chance for young people to discuss what Ireland needs to do to tackle climate issues.

Today, we regroup as a full school community for the first time in the new academic year.

The uniforms have been cleaned, the shoes have been polished, the iPads have been charged, the teachers have been dusted off and we are good to go.

For those of you who are new to our school, this moment of reflection happens at roughly this time every morning and it is an opportunity for us, as we begin our day, to think of the world around us, the people who are in it and our relationships with each other. It is a time to pause, be silent and think.

We welcome in particular our new first year students as you embark on your first day with us. We pray that it will be the first of many happy days with us here. We also welcome back our 6th years, now bedecked in your new white shirts, we hope that this year is a good one for you as you prepare for the leaving cert and all that comes with that.

As we begin this new day in this new term we ask God to be with us. Support us on the days when we are low and be with us on the days when all is going well. Guide us this year in our victories and defeats, and encourage us to always do good when we can.

As we start this new school year together we remember the wise words of Mother Theresa who once said “the good that we do in the world might just be a drop in the ocean, however the ocean would be less but for that missing drop”.

So help where you can, do good when you can, support others when you can.

Today, we pray for a good day and a great year,

Amen
