Mr. Wayne Denner addressed the student body on Tuesday September 19th on the safe use of the Internet and facilitated a seminar for parents on the same theme that evening.  Wayne was realistic in his approach and the students recognised the importance of a reflective use of social media.

We remember today Aoife Baker, a past pupil of Loreto Abbey, who has died and express our sympathies to her daughter Aibhlinn, her dad and her sisters, Ciara and Allison.  May Aoife rest in peace.

Congratulations to our Loreto Dalkey Sailing Team who came 2nd at the All Ireland Sailing Championships last Friday.

Congratulations to Helen O’Beirne who came 2nd overall on the day.

Congratulations to all who received Junior Certificate results on Wednesday September 13th.  The high standard of results is testimony to the work of our students, the guidance of our staff and the support of our parents.  Many students achieved “personal bests” in a range of subjects.  A particular word of congratulations to Sarah Dillon and Isobel Kearns who received a maximum of 10 “A” grades. 22% of the year achieved 5 “A” grades or higher.

Sr. Orla and Sr. Penina spoke to our 5th and 6th Year students about their work in education and health care in the Loreto School in Rumbek, South Sudan.   The presentation was inspiring, with our students recognising the liberating power of education for girls.  For the last ten years, students in Dalkey have made financial contributions to this project and we would hope to continue our fundraising efforts this year.

Tickets must be returned to the school no later than Friday 15th September.

The draw will take place on Monday 18th September.
