Along with sports, we offer a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. First Year pupils are encouraged to involve themselves in a range of extra-curricular activities.

What we offer

  • Book Clubs

We have book clubs for both Junior and Senior Students. With ever-growing numbers in them, students love meeting to discuss, choose and rate books throughout the school year. Meetings for these are held once a month in the school library and we keep in contact while we read using our school email.

  • Choirs

Pupils of all musical ability are encouraged to join one of our musical groups. Those interested in singing may wish to join our special choir. There are opportunities for all to sing in our Gospel Choir and in our Liturgical Music Folk Group.

  • Creative Writing Club

Our creative writing club focuses on all things writing. It also has visits from authors such as John Connolly and Joseph O'Connor to discuss writing and occasional trips to places such as Fighting Words. It's open to all year groups and meets every Wednesday at lunchtime. You can find out more on the library website.

  • Debating

We offer different types of Debating:

    Concern Debating
    The Concern Debates aim to:
    • Promote a deeper awareness and understanding of global issues.
    • Provide students with a public forum, to develop skills in research, presentation and debate.
    • Encourage students and teachers to become lifelong advocates on issues relating to poverty, justice and human rights.

    Irish Debating
Our Junior and Senior Irish debate teams participate in Gael Linn's Comórtas Díospóireachta an Phiarsaigh.

    German Debating
Our German Debating Team competes in Goethe Institute Debating Competition.

    English Debating
Our English debating teams participate in Junior Schools Debating Competition, Leinster Schools' Debating Competition and Loreto Mace.

  • Green Schools Group

As a Green School, our strategic plan aims to raise awareness of the environment,  encourage recycling, composting and reducing waste. Any student who is interested in helping make our school a greener one is welcome to attend. The Green Schools Group meet as advertised on the intercom.

  • Justice and Peace Group for 5th Years

The Justice and Peace Group focuses on highlighting awareness among the student body of Justice and Peace issues. Fifth Year students must apply for membership of this group. While fundraising is an important part of their work, the learning process involved in any fundraising campaign is of equal importance. The group work with Trocaire, Concern, Loreto International, the St. Vincent de Paul and a host of other Irish charities to fulfill their aims.

  • Model United Nations

This school year, there are more students than ever participating in Model United Nations, an inter-schools debating event that invites many schools from both Ireland and the rest of the world to come together and debate the most pressing issues of the day. MUN takes place every Friday afternoon in the school, with conferences in various schools in Dublin throughout the year.

  • Orchestra

The school orchestra is made up of approximately thirty members and is open to every student in the school, regardless of ability. The make-up of the ensemble changes from year to year, depending on the range of players available. The orchestra prepares a varied programme of works each year and performs at events such as Dalkey's Got Talent, Sixth Year Prize-giving Night and the annual School Concert. Rehearsals take place in the Concert Hall on Friday mornings from 8.05 - 8.55am with extra rehearsals coming up to performances as necessary. New members are always welcome!

  • Young Entrepreneur Program

The Young Entrepreneur Program is a fantastic opportunity to experience what it’s like to run your own business. All you need is an idea and the energy to make it happen. It's open to all year groups so there's no excuse to not get involved.
